It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and bringing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.
